Carne Asada is a dish that literally means "grilled meat". It is one of the most popular varieties of Mexican food, most commonly found in the northern Mexican states of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas.

In Mexico and the American Southwest, the phrase "Carne Asada" can be representative of an outdoor barbeque. Carne Asada is also used to describe a social gathering where the dish is prepared and served as the main course, much like a party. The event is referred as una Carne Asada.
